About us

The company’s beginnings

STOLAM was founded in 1980 by Andrzej Zygmunt, who graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at Szczecin University of Technology (now the West Pomeranian University of Technology, Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering). He gained his experience at the Szczecin Yacht Shipyard, first as a laminator and later as a production manager. After a few years, he decided to set up his own business, which was quite a challenge in those days. Initially, the company produced bodywork components for cars, boats, kayaks, pedalos, etc.

From 1998, the company began to specialise in the production of bodywork for buses and trams using hand-lay-up technology, which continues to this day.

Continuation and expansion of operations

In 2012, his son, Michał Zygmunt, joined the company. Drawing on his 14 years of engineering experience in the design of tanks and systems made from plastics and stainless steel, he expanded the scope of the business to include thermoplastics and 3D design. Since 2020, he has been running the family business on his own, though he continues to benefit from the tremendous technical support of his father, whose over 40 years’ experience in thermosets, combined with modern engineering, enables him to take on many new challenges.

Now

STOLAM’s main speciality remains bodywork components for public transport vehicles, though the company is open to new sectors where glass-fibre-reinforced plastic technology is also required. Naturally, our services in thermoplastic welding (PE, PP) and 3D engineering are constantly being developed.
